Solinftec Establishes Operations in Canada, Sets Strong Local Partnerships to Fuel Growth

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, CA – April 6, 2021 – Solinftec, a leader in agricultural digitalization, today announced it has established operations in Canada and is forming key relationships with local agricultural leaders. Additionally, Solinftec is piloting its ag tech solution in Canada for the first time this spring.

Solinftec is devoted to bringing technology and innovation to agricultural operations around the world—helping inform smart farming decisions. To lead its expansion effort in Canada, Solinftec named Leonardo Carvalho as head of business development for Canadian operations. Carvalho is located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

“We are looking forward to being a part of the innovative agriculture community in Canada,” said Carvalho. “At Solinftec, we prioritize partnerships—collaborating on research and development with local ag leaders and growers wherever we go, especially when entering a new territory. Our expansion into Canada is no different.”

Originally founded nearly 15 years ago in Brazil, Solinftec expanded operations into the United States in 2018, establishing its North American headquarters in Indiana. Now, Solinftec is expanding into Canada, establishing several key relationships in the region to best understand the specific needs and pain points of Canadian farmers, ag retailers and other key players in the industry. Coutts Agro Ltd., located in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, will be the lead Canadian farm operation for Solinftec’s solution in 2021.

“We are always looking for solutions that will allow us to operate more efficiently and reduce our operating risk,” said Matt Coutts, chief investment officer at Coutts Agro Ltd. “We studied Solinftec’s core market, Brazil, and it was immediately apparent that their agriculture industry is largely built on top of Solinftec’s products and vision. It is our desire to replicate a similar level of operating performance in Canada. Additionally, we found alignment with their customer-centric approach to product development and longer-term goals to modernize agriculture with a twin focus on digital and ESG.”

Additionally, Solinftec is collaborating with local industry leaders from the University of Saskatchewan and Ag-West Bio, Saskatchewan’s bioscience industry association.

“Ag tech is a promising industry with exponential growth potential,” said Dr. Trever Crowe, associate dean Research and Graduate Studies in the College of Agriculture and Bioresources at the University of Saskatchewan. “Solinftec’s interest in collaborating with our researchers and in recruiting students and graduates as interns and employees represents tremendous opportunity.  I am excited by the possibilities.”

“We welcome Solinftec to Saskatchewan and look forward to watching and supporting as they grow their operation locally and across Canada,” said Karen Churchill, CEO of Ag-West Bio. “Agriculture is an essential pillar of our economy and we look forward to seeing the positive effects of Solinftec’s technology, which will help farmers optimize their operations.”

Solinftec works with farmers and ag retailers to understand their existing workflow and partners with them to identify opportunities for greater efficiency, such as streamlining the dispatching of machines in the field and providing live insights for an entire fleet.
